Blockbuster Time

Christmas time means Blockbuster time at all the major department store make-up counters.  This week I am going to showcase a different one each day.  They all have there pearls and pits.  I will break it down for you, so you know which one to ask Santa, or your husband for this season.

Let's start this week with Lancôme.  This is my favorite this season.  It comes with a beautiful black train case that I know you will be able to use for years to come.  But it is what is inside that will take your breath away.  3 full size eye shadows, a blush, 2 lipsticks, a lip gloss, mascara, make-up remover and of course some beauty serums.  This will last you for months to come.  The colors are amazing and there are 2 different palettes to choose from.

This Holiday gift is $59 with any Lancôme purchase, which is an amazing deal considering the eye shadows alone are $20 each.  I knew I wanted this for Christmas, so I stopped by the Lancôme counter at Dillard's in the Cottonwood Mall.  My Lancôme lady Dawn helped me pick out some items and she set them aside.  Now my husband can go in and buy it, and I will be 'surprised' on Christmas morning when he gets me exactly what I want.  It is a win win.  You can stop by the Lancôme counter at Dillard's at Cottonwood Mall and ask for Dawn, or give her a call at 505-898-2530.  Tell her Kiki Sent you!!

Time for a New Mascara

While flipping through the pages of one of my favorite magazines, Marie Claire, I saw an ad for a new mascara.  The packaging was so colorful and beautiful, and the models lashes were so fabulous, I knew I had to run to CVS immediately and buy it.  New Lash Potion by Grow Luscious Volume + Length Mascara from Revlon is my new favorite obsession.

It is so luxorious.  It is rich with strengthening proteins that make your lashes look and feel amazing.  The triple groove wands is perfect for clump-free lashes and gives you length for days.  My lashes look a hundred percent longer and thicker.  You know, I am always searching for the perfect mascara, and I think I finally found it.  It is available at drugstores and Ulta too.  It is around $8.00 for a tube, but I actually bought 2 and got one for half price at my favorite drugstore, CVS.

I used Lash Potion from Revlon over the weekend when I hosted Urban Trash for Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy.  It held up wonderfully.  Not only did my lashes look fabulous, under the bright lights it did not melt away and get into my eyes, the way some mascaras do.

It is waterproof, so you might have to take a little extra time to get it off at night.  But I just use my Clinque Take The Day Off Makeup Remover, and it dissolves in a jiffy.

I would call New Lash Potion by Grow Luscious from Revlon a FIND!!

Pumpkin Flavor is Taking Over The World

I was in my favorite store the other day, Target, and I saw something that rocked me to my core.  Pumpkin Flavored Oreos.  That is when I was certain, Pumpkin Flavor is taking over the world.  Whether it if Pumpkin Lattes, Pumpkin Candles, or my favorite, Pumpkin Pies, there is no denying it is the IT flavor of the season.  But what about for Fall Fashion??  Maybe you want to look the part of the season, but the orangey color is just not your thing.  I found a few options that might work for you this month.

How about a burnt red look instead??  This outfit is really not hard to copy at home and I am willing to bet if we take a look in the back of our closet we might even be able to find some of these items, or close to it.  I know that when I see a good deal on tank tops I always stock up.  I have one just a touch lighter than this tan one, but it would work.  The great part about this outfit is that even though it is cold in the morning, it still tends to warm up in the afternoon.  You can exchange the tank top for a shirt with sleeves and you would be able to take a layer off if needed.  I always love to match my purse to my outfit, and this one just adds that extra pop you need.

Now personally, I love skirts and leggings.  This fall skirt is a gorgeous color and looks fabulous when paired with some tights and a sweater.  I was able to find one simular to this at Old Navy in grey.  I wear it with some dark tights and a simple black short sleeve shirt and of course a cardigan over the top.  It is perfect for work, or even dinner with the hubby after.  If you pair it with a burnt red or dark green suede pump, you really have a perfect outfit for fall.

Fall can be so much more than pumpkin this and pumpkin that.  I will showcase more great finds in the following weeks.  I will also let you know where you can purchase them, how much they cost and where to find the great deals.  I am not cheap and am not against spending money on some pieces.  But I do love a bargain, and I am sure you do too.

If you have any great finds, please share with us, I would love to see them!!

Hugs, Kiki

The Truth About Unclogging Pores.....

It is the problem no one wants to talk about with your friends.  What do you use when your pore's are clogged and nothing seems to help??  You want smooth, beautiful skin, but you don't feel like you look your best.  So you cover it up with more makeup, which just clogs your pores more.  I finally found something that is helping me, and I am not afraid to spread the word.  It is Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub Deep Cleansing.  It was right there on the shelf at CVS all this time.  I got it home and immediatly fell in love with this product.

I will admit, it was the spherical beads.  The product description claims to target what clogs the pores and clean away impurities...and that is exactly what happened.  I found in the past, some products were so harsh with ingredients and grit, it irritated my face, leaving behind red blotches.  Not Biore.  I applied just a quarter sized amount with a circulur motion that I have seem my facialist use, I rinsed, and what was left behind was squeeky clean, beautiful skin.  It is oil-free and is a salicylic acid acne treatment, which is a plus.  I still break out from time to time and this has helped with that as well.  I would recommend this product to anyone.  It is a FIND!!!

Is There Such A Thing As Too Many Purses???

The Perfect Purse
On a recent trip to Macy's at the Cottonwood Mall I found the perfect Michael Kors purse.  It was just the blue color I wanted it to be, it was small enough to wear to a concert without having to worry about misplacing it, and it had a strap I could wear across my body that was perfect.  The price was right and I was ready to check out when I stopped myself.  A little pang of guilt came over me.  I started asking all the usual questions.  Do I really need this??  Don't I have one simular at home??  Couldn't I use the money (even though it was a fabulous deal) for something else??  I guilted my way right to putting it back on the rack.  I walked away feeling good about myelf, but I knew in the back of my mind I would regret this moment for the rest of my life.  Sure enough, it happens.  I awake at one in the morning.  The usual questions come back.  What did I do??  How could I have left that purse at Macy's??  I wonder if it is still there??  I need to go right after work today and get it before I hurt the perfect Michael Kors Purse's feelings!!   Sometimes I consider what different fictional characters would do.  In this instance, I looked to Carrie Bradshaw.  Would she say no in the way of fashion in order to pay more money on her car loan??  Probably not, right.  And that is what gives me the permission to go and purchase that Michael Kors purse and not feel guilty anymore.   Am I alone on this??  Is there really such a thing as too many purses??  Help a sister out.......

A Summer Shimmer

How do you get a beautiful summer shimmer without looking like you just got out of a club??  I finally figured it out.

Combine your loose powder to set your makeup along with a shimmer powder.  I recently rediscovered a product that I love, Prescriptives *magic Liquid Powder.  I used it for a nighttime pool party and I loved the look, but it was a little too much for the daytime.  I decided to mix a little with my everyday loose powder and the results were amazing.  It was just right.  Shimmery in the sunlight, great coverage, and I didn't look like I just got done with an all night party.  I like to save the empty container.  Once I get the new one I mix about half of the product with about a quarter of the Presciptives powder.  This seems to be the best formula to achieve the look I want.  You can always adjust it to your preference.  Give it a try over the holiday weekend, I am willing to bet you are going to love the look.  Let me know how it works out for you, post your picture in the comments below.

Super Secret Bonus at Clinique

There is a super secret bonus about to start at Macy's at the Clinique counter inside the Cottonwood Mall.  My girl Tiegan let me in on the surprise.

Starting tomorrow and ONLY for 5 days you will get a cute free gift with any Clinique purchase.  Now, I was able to sneak a picture of it, and it looks pretty spectacular.  First of all, the bag is adorbs!!  And second, it comes with a small bottle of Take Off The Day Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips.  The great thing about that is you can really refill it for your travel bag.  That way you don't have to lug around a big bottle.  I always use a seperate makeup remover for my eyes and this one works incredible well.  The lip color is very nice as well.  I love how Clinique gives you extra bonus times throughout the year.  I am still using the Super Primer in Universal and I love how it keeps my makeup all day long.  I don't have to touch up as much which is great when you are on the run all day. I would highly recommend it.

So go check it out tomorrow and tell them Kiki sent you.  This is an extra bonus you won't want to miss.

Hugs, Kiki

You Knew I Had To Go There.........

Shoes...What can I say about shoes??  I love them.  I can't live without them.  I get happy when I look at them in my closet.  I can say all of these things and so much more.  That is why I jumped at the chance to broadcast live from the New location of Shoe Fitters inside the Coronado Mall.  They say it is bigger and brighter, and they are not kidding.  It really is beautiful.  Located on the lower level right next to Macy's, you can't it miss it.  The interior is redesigned and is very inviting.  You feel like you can look around comfortable without bumping into other people.  And the brightness of the store makes the shoes POP out.

They offer a variety of brands including Uggs, Keen, Clark, Sperry, and New Balance.  Now I will admit, these aren't always the shoes I wear, but when I go there I always find something I want to take home with me.  And this time was no exception.  I bought a pair of Sperry's.  They are beautiful in a Coral color.  And they are super comfy.  With summer days by the pool, and vacation on Cape Cod,
I am going to get a lot of wear out of them.

Shoe Fitters has 2 locations in Albuquerque.  One in the Cottonwood Mall and the new bigger and brighter location in Coronado Mall.  I would highly recommend checking them out, you never know what you are going to walk away with.  You can check them out online at www.shoefitters.net

Today Is The Day!!!

Today is the day!!!  I am going to Dr. Cuadros to get Botox.  Everyone knows I love to take a Selfie.  Well, lately I am not so happy with the wrinkles in my forehead.  I decided to do something about it.  I had a consult with another Doctor in town but I decided to go with a family friend.  I will post before and after pics so you can see the difference, but I can't wait.  I understand you should age gracefully, but I also believe if you are not happy with something you should take care of it.  I am actually considering other procedures this year, but I will wait to tell you about them when the time comes.  For now, wish me luck today.  Look for the update along with the pics.

Let's Try Another One....

volume mascaraI am starting to think maybe I am not on a search for the perfect mascara, maybe I just like trying new things to see what they are like.  Take Mascara for instance.  I just bought the new Bombshell Volume by LashBlast Mascara from CoverGirl.  I tried it yesterday morning and I like it.  There are 2 steps. Step One is the basecoat which promises to add volume to your lashes.  Step Two in the finishing coat that is meant to intensify your lashes.

The brushes are a little hard to work with because of the design.  As you can see in the picture, they are actually connected and the make-up itself is on the end.  I felt like I was constantly trying not to get mascara on my hand and face.  Once I did get it on, it looked good.  I like the coverage and the way it makes my lashes look fuller.  But then it came to taking it off.  I will be honest, I usually use one product on my eye make-up to take it off and a facial wipe on my face to take off the rest.  I actually had to use my eye make-up remover twice to get it all the way off.  I did use it again today, I want to give it a second chance.  I think once I get used to the brushes and know that it takes some muscle to get it off I should be fine with this product.  You can't really go wrong with CoverGirl, but it would be better if it was easier to use.

Yellow Isn't Just For Lemons Anymore

I have been looking through some websites lately, especially my favorites Julep and Coach, and I am noticing a lot of yellow.  This seems to be the color of Late Spring/Early Summer, and I don't mind one bit.  Yellow has always been a happy color for me.  Daffodils and Daisys are some of the happiest flowers out there, both yellow.  Pastels have been hot for awhile now, but yellow seems to be the stand-out color.  I found this beautiful Yellow from Julep for my nails.

This color can be a little bright for some people, so if you start out with just yellow on your nails it is a good way to pop just a bit without taking too much of a risk.  But I have to tell you, I have a yellow dress at home that I wear sometimes and nothing makes you get noticed more than this beautiful color.  And the bonus is, It really brightens your mood too.  You can go to www.julep.com to order online.

Growing up, I always had a pair of Tretorn Sneakers for playing tennis.  The other day I was on www.tretorn.com and came across these cuties.  This is another way to add a little color of season to your wardrobe without going overboard.  I understand fashion can be a little scary sometimes, but when you take little risks here and there to get out of your comfort zone you will be amazed at the results.

So here is my challenge to you.  Go online today and buy something yellow!!  I would go with the nail polish.  It is super simple, plus once you check out the Julep website you are going to start wondering why you didn't go there sooner.  Then post your pictures on my blog so you can share your pop of color with all of us!!

Is This For Real???

One of the best parts of getting to work on Monday morning is looking through the ads from the Sunday paper.  I have a very nice man at work who saves them for me every week and leaves them  at my desk.  I scour the Target, JC Penny, and Kohl's ad.  Today was no exception.  But something took me by surprise when I was looking at the Kohl's ad, something so unexpected I had to save it so I could look at it a little later to make sure I wasn't seeing things wrong because of the early hour.  I will let you see the picture so you can see it for yourself.

Do you see it???  White sandals with Black Socks!!!!  I still can't believe my eyes.  This is from the Vera Wang collection exclusively at Kohl's.  I will be honest, I don't even know how to feel about this.  Could this really be a new trend??  By the end of the summer will I have the exact same look??  I want to say no, all my instincts are saying no, but .....I am scared.  I used to think I would never wear Chucks but now I have a half of closet full of them.  So what do you think??  Would you rock this look??  I guess you can never say never.

I Could Totally Be A Burlesque Girl

Now we all know that the Flamingo Hotel is the home of Donnie & Marie, but did you also know it is home to the best Burlesque show in Vegas??  X Burlesque has a show every day of the week and is incredible.  I was able to attend one of the shows, but I also took the X Burlesque University.  Yes, that is right, They will teach you how to be a Burlesque dancer!!  I was in heaven.

X Burlesque Troupe
To me, showgirls in Vegas are like Rock Stars.  I love them.  They are glamourous, beautiful, and their bodies are amazing.  The class meets on Saturdays at 3pm.  Two of the showgirls from the troupe teach a few tricks of the trade.  First, they go over how to apply false eyelashes, which really helped me a lot, I always struggle with that.  Then they go over a few make-up tricks, including how to put on blush so it really accentuates your cheekbones, and a cool trick to keeping your lip gloss on without getting your hair stuck in it.  I won't give anything away, but it is pretty brilliant and helps with the sparkle as well.  Then, after your make-up and lashes are showgirl worthy they teach you a part of the routine.  This is when the fun really begins.  You get to pick out a feather boa to use and then you get up on stage.  Whitney, one of the showgirls, walks you through step by step.  There is no rushing and if you have questions or can't get the move down right away she really helps you out.  After learning about 4 pieces you put the whole routine together and they add the music.  This is soooo much fun!!!  But wait, there is more.  After you run through the routine a couple of times with music they break the group up into 2.  You go back on stage and perform and then stand in a line just like you are auditioning for the show.  The sound guy then picks a winner from the group.  I am not going to lie, I was BEYOND excited when he picked me!!  I always knew I had it in me to be a showgirl, I just needed the chance to shine!!  lol  The X Burlesque University was so much fun!!!  You even get a diploma, a make-up kit and a picture to take home to show everyone.   I told my mom all about it and now she wants me to teach her the routine.  I suppose craving the spotlight runs in the family;)

This was a highlight of my trip to Las Vegas.  I would highly recommend it to anyone who just wants to let loose and have a little fun with a boa.  For tickets and more information check out www.xburlesqueuniversity.com  or www.flamingolasvegas.com

Doing the Outlets in Vegas

One part of my trip that I was looking so forward to was the shopping.  All the hotels have so many beautiful shops that you don't get to see everyday.  There is the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and the Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood and of course all the shops in between.  But what I couldn't wait to check out was the Las Vegas Premium Outlets.  My first big decision was, do I check out the North or the South location?!   After talking to a few friends about it I decided to go to the South location when I arrived in town on Friday.  I was blown away.  It was everything I thought it would be, and there was even a Dunkin' Donuts!!

With all my excitement of getting there, I couldn't wait for the bus, so I actually grabbed a cab at the Monte Carlo.  That probably wasn't my best decision, it cost around $25 to get there, but I just couldn't wait.  Upon my arrival, I grabbed a delicious Iced Coffee at Dunkins and got to work on my recon mission.  At first, I walked around the entire outlet to see what was there and take mental notes on what I wanted to buy.  I think this helps when you are in a new city shopping.  Sometimes, with all the excitement of new surroundings, you make bad decisions when you are spending your money.  If you see something and then come back later to buy it, it gives you a little time to think about it to make sure it is really something you need.  I have made many bad choices shopping at 3 in the morning on Black Friday Sales, so now I take my time.  I found many great deals, and some that I am glad I walked away from.

When outlet shopping you have to keep in mind, it is not always the best price.  Don't get me wrong, the prices are good, but if you don't really need it and it is not marked way down, you are just spending money that you could use elsewhere.  The Loft Outlet is a good example.  The prices are great but if you hit it right, you can get killer deals right here at the regular Loft at ABQ Uptown.  I did get a great deal at the Coach Outlet.  I had received a coupon in the mail that I brought with me so I received an extra 15% off my purchase, plus I noticed they had more of a selection in Vegas than we do in Santa Fe.  There is a New York & Company outlet that was really nice.  I was able to get a nice dress for summer, jewelry, and even a gift for my Mom for around $50.  But the store that I was looking most forward to was Michael Kors.  I finally bought my first Michael Kors purse and I love it!!  It did cost around $90 which is better than it would be if I went to Dillard's, and it was a dream come true so it was priceless to me.

All in all, I was very pleased when I returned home and unpacked my treasures.  I didn't buy anything that made me think, why did you buy this??   Which is always good.  From what I hear, the only real difference between the North and South Outlets is a different variety of stores.  They are both mostly the same with a few exceptions.  I also heard that the North outlets are a little more expensive.  I am already planning a trip to the North on my next adventure to Las Vegas, which I am hoping will be at the end of the summer.  I would say the Las Vegas Outlets South is a FIND and I would plan to give  yourself at least half a day to go check it out, you will be happy you did.

Vegas Week Begins!!!

I spent a long weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada and let me tell you, that town is amazing!!  The rumor in my family is that I was conceived there, and I tend to believe it.  There is something about Vegas, besides the obvious, that just does something to me.  Not only is it exciting around the clock, it also makes me feel like anything is possible in life, I just have to go after it and I can make all my dreams come true.

This time around I stayed at the Flamingo, which was a first for me.  This hotel is pretty fabulous.  You can stroll the courtyard housing a wildlife habitate featuring, of course, Flamingos.  The pool area is amazing.  There is an over 21 side which has a live DJ and waterfalls.  You can go to the other side of the pool, which is a little quieter if you just want to relax in the sun.  It does get busy, considering the temps were in the 90's and expected to reach 100 by this weekend, so I would suggest you go down and claim your spot early.  But if you walk around you can usually find a chair to sit on.  Everyone at the pool is extremely friendly too.  I actually met a couple with ties to Albuquerque on my first day in the sun.  And I met a lady on my last day who was there to celebrate her friend's birthday who had traveled all the way from Canada.

The rooms are incredible too.  I booked my stay in one of their Go Rooms.  They are newly remodeled and the views are spectacular.  My room overlooked the pool and wildlife habitat.  I could also see the new High Roller in the background which was gorgeous at night all lit up.  Although I didn't do much gambling, the casino floor is huge.  There are gift shops, restaurants, and a buffet.  The restaurant Carlos'n Charlie's is fun.  I didn't eat there, but at night there is dancing and they offer a special cover charge that actually gets you free drinks all night long.  I had a blast dancing until 3 in the morning.

A fun fact: The Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas was actually the third resort to open on the Strip and is the oldest resort on the Strip still in operation.  It is conviently located too.  Easy to get to everything, especially considering the Las Vegas Monorail has a stop at the rear of the property.  I am already planning my next trip back and the Flamingo is where I will stay.  I would call The Flamingo Hotel a FIND!!!

Pretty Little Nails

Having pretty finger nails are so in right now.  I just received some nail polish in the mail and I am kind of in love right now.  It is from Julep and the colors are so cool, pastels.  I have the blue on right now and actually gave it to the lady who did my pedi so my nails would match.  The kit came with 3 colors.  A pink, yellow, and blue.  It also came with a little nail buffer which is super cute.  This is another monthly service, the first box is free and then it is $10 every month.  But that is my last monthly box subscription.  (I know, I have a problem and I can't stop subscribing)

I first heard about Julep from Marie Claire Magazine.  The website www.julep.com is pretty cool.  You first take a short quiz so the experts can figure out your personal style and then they send you a customized box of goodies every month, the first box being free.  You can also go online and order cool beauty products.  They have a face brush that I have an eye on.  I am really looking forward to my box for next month.  You can even flag products you are interested in.  Check it out today and tell me what you think.  www.julep.com is a FIND!!!

Feeling A Little Aveda Today

I went to get my hair touched up yesterday at Casa Verde Spa.  I love my new blonde look but my roots were coming through.  It came out incredible, they really do a great job there.  Later that night I was in an Aveda mood so I decided to wash my face with my Tourmaline Charged products and use the Radiance Masque.  This product has both avocado oil and muru butter.  It exfoliates and helps gently shed dull, lackluster surface cells and leaves skin radiant.  At least that is what they say it does.  This was my first time using it and since I am leaving for Vegas in 2 days I figured why not give it a try.

WOW!!  It really does work.  You simple smooth it on and wait for about 5 minutes.  It drys just a bit and then you know it is time to wash it off.  My skin felt incredible.  I had a glow that wasn't there before I started and it was silky smooth.  This morning when I put on my make-up I could tell the difference when I started with my foundation.  You know how sometimes your skin just looks dull even after you put the make-up on....well not today.  I think I am going to start using this masque at least once a week.  I love the glow and I also noticed my make-up is lasting longer today, which is fabulous, considering the fact I put it on at 3 in the morning.

Tourmaline Charged Radiance Masque from Aveda is a FIND!!!  Pick some up today at Casa Verde or check out their website at www.casaverdespa.com  You can give them a call at (505) 881-0464

Snacking on the Job

It is no secret I love my shows on TV.  Especially Bravo and Hallmark Channel.  Sometimes when you are up late you see commercials for things that you don't normally see.  That is what happened one Saturday night.  There is a company called Graze.  Now I am a big fan of the, pay $10 a month and you will get a surprise in the mail.  Normally my thing is make-up, but this one looked cool so I tried it.  For $6 every two weeks they send you 4 samples of snacks.

They are unique snacks too, like Fruit & Seed Flapjack and Garden of England, a delicious mix of strawberries, blackcurrant, and soft apple pieces.  One time the box even had a mini bag of microwave popcorn that was out of this world good.  The box arrives twice a month but you can receive one every week if you would like.  The point of the Graze box is to have healthy snacks at work to enjoy throughout the day and it is encouraged that you have the box delivered to your office.  They also have incentives for you to spread the word about this cool idea and have your co-workers sign up too.  It really is a fun concept.  Some of the snacks are of course better than others, but in the end it is the just the right amount that even if you are not crazy about the flavor you can enjoy it anyway.

You can sign up at www.graze.com and use my Friend Code Kikig9kzp.  Now if you excuse me, I am going to enjoy one of my delcious snacks!!

And Tomorrow We Are Having Chicken and Waffles!!!

Church's Chicken & Waffles
Chicken and Waffles is a very trendy food item lately.  It seems most restaurants have their own spin on this Southern speciality.  Today at work, Church's Chicken came in with their version of it.   I swore I wouldn't try any, and then it happened, the sweet smell of waffles and syrup came wafting down the hallway.  I still was ready to stay strong, and not indulge in this treat.  But then I saw the boneless fried chicken with a dipping sauce and I was a goner.

The Chicken and I
I will be the first to say it, I am not a big fan of fried chicken.  My husband actually stops for Church's every Tuesday and he knows the only thing to bring me is the Coleslaw.  But that smell, it was simple too much for me, so sweet and delicious, I had to try it.  The waffles are adorable, just the right size with little caramel pieces sprinkled on top.  The Chicken and Waffles comes with a Maple Butter dipping sauce that is just the right amount of sweet.   Here in Albuquerque, we are a test market for their new menu items. I would say this is a keeper.  The portion size is just enough as well, not too much so you won't get that feeling of..what did I just eat afterwards.  Just enough so you will be craving it for next time.  I have a feeling the next time my husband is bringing something home from Church's I will be requesting this.

Popejoy Does It Again

Popejoy Presents brings some of the best plays straight from Broadway to town for us to enjoy.  And they have done it again.  War Horse opened on Tuesday night, and the show was amazing.  After seeing the movie, it was hard to picture how they could bring the glory of Joey to the stage.  But they did, and it is breathtaking.  Through the expert work of puppeteers, Joey comes to life right before your eyes.  It is an amazing piece of machinery that you just can't keep your eyes off of, and even though you know it is a puppet, it provokes so much emotion you find tears in your eyes throughout the production.  The love that the main characater, Albert, has for his horse just made me want to go home and hug my cat Tedi.  And his determined spirit to never give up the fight to find his beloved horse makes you realize there is nothing greater than the love we have in our hearts.  This is a must see production.

War Horse runs through Sunday May 4th at Popejoy Hall on the UNM Campus.  You can get your tickets today at www.popejoypresents.com or www.unmtickets.com

Vegas Bound

I am heading to Vegas for a Girls Weekend for Mother's Day with my Bestie Renee.  We haven't seen each other in about 9 years, so needless to say, we have a lot of catching up to do.  While we are in town, I have a trip to the new High Roller Ferris Wheel at The Linq planned.  It is 550 feet tall and is the world's largest observation wheel.  It looks incredible and the views of Vegas are said to be breathtaking.  The trip around takes about 30 minutes.  I can't wait to check it out for the first time.

I am also looking for other things to do.  Renee has never been to Vegas and I want to show her as much as possible.  This is where I need your help.  We want to go see Britney.  But I need ideas of other things we should do while we are there. What do you suggest for a Vegas first timer??

I would love to try out the X Burlesque University at the Flamingo.  They teach you the moves of a burlesque dancer with feather boas and all.  I also think the Zombie Burlesque show at Planet Hollywood looks like it would be amazing.

And then of course, there is the food.  No trip to Vegas is complete without a stop at a Gordan Ramsey Restaurant.  The hot dogs at BurGR are crazy good.  But then again, don't you have to stop at a Buffet while you are in town??  Which buffet do you think is a can't miss??  Share your great ideas from Vegas and let me know if there is somewhere you would like me to try while I am there and I can tell you if it is a FIND or a FORGET.

Hair Removal Made Easy???

Maximum smoothness with minimum hassle.  Sounds good to me, but can it be true.  In the case of Nair Shower Power Max, I am still not sure.  The commercial came on the other day while Isabella and I were catching up on our Real Housewives drama so we decided to try it out.  I have used Nair in the past but not this particular product.  It comes in a convient pump bottle with a sponge that is smooth on one side and bumpy on the other.  The directions say that you smooth it onto your dry legs, let it set for one minute, and then jump into the shower and start your bathing routine, with the cream still on.  The formula can withstand the water, but just not a direct stream.  I tried to do it, but I couldn't.  Once you put the lotion on, it seems to dry into your legs.  But once I got in the shower, I was super aware of the fact that I had it on and couldn't figure out how not to get the water directly on it.  The directions say to let it stay on for at least 2 minutes but no longer than 10.  I think I made it to 2 1/2 minutes, but then I needed to take it off.  You use the bumpy side of the sponge and watch the hair come right off.  This didn't happen for me.  Now, it wasn't a total bust.  I do see some of the hair on my leg gone, but there is still a lot left.  I am willing to try it again though.  I think next time I will leave it on for 5 minutes outside of the shower and then jump in and start to take it off.  I would call this product a Try Again.

Have you used Nair Shower Power??  How were your results??

Excited For The Week

Tim Burton
This is going to be an exciting week!!  There are so many things happening.  Saturday it is the annual Soiree for Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy, which just gets better and better every year. A Tribute to Tim Burton is this year's theme.  It starts at 7pm at the African American Performing Arts Center on the State Fairgrounds.   I am the host again this year.  If you have never been to this event, it is amazing.  The talent of the students really blows me away.  There is so much creativity.  This is a Can't Miss event.

War Horse opens at Popejoy Hall this Tuesday and runs through Sunday.  If you have seen the movie, you know the main character is Joey the horse, so it is interesting how they will bring a puppet to life.  The puppeteers are said to be amazing in this production, and Popejoy is the perfect place to go see this performance.  There really is not one bad seat in the house.  Tickets are still available at www.popejoypresents.com and also www.unmtickets.com

There is also something exciting happening at the Rail Yards this weekend.  Starting on Sunday, the Blacksmith Shop will be the location for a weekly Farmers Market.  There will be local farmers, food trucks, healers, teachers, musicians, and so much more.  This space is so cool.  The market will open at 9am and close at 3. The Rail Yards are a piece of Albuquerque history. And who could forget the infamous picture of Walter White surrounded by all his money taken in this location.  I am so glad that the city has revitalized it.  There is even going to be a UFC fight held in that space on May 10th.  It is the perfect setting.  The Rails are available to rent out for events.  My daughter Isabella wants to have her Sweet 16 party there next year.

If you know of any other cool events happening in the city this week, inbox me so I can help spread the word!!!

I Am So Excited I Can't Breathe!!!!

I am so happy and excited right now, I don't know what to do with myself.  Have you heard the news??  It is now official, Nordstrom Rack and DSW are coming to the Winrock Mall.

This is probably the best news I have heard in a long time, well, since they announced H&M coming to the Coronado Mall.  This is big news for Albuquerque.  My daughter, Isabella, has cheer competitions in Phoenix and Denver. I know one of the best parts of those trips are going to these 3 stores.  If you have never been to DSW before, you are in for a treat.  Not only do they have some of the best brands out there at incredible prices.  They also have a loyalty program, which is pretty spectacular since there are some places in town that don't even remember your name.

Nordstrom Rack has some great deals too, on exclusive designer labels that we can't always get here.  Look for names like Kate Spade New York, Chanel, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors.   If you have seen Winrock lately you know construction is underway and it looks like it is going to be a hot spot once again.  Of course we already have the beautiful Regal Winrock Stadium 16, Mattress Firm, Dilliard's and BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse.  We are also waiting on a Dave & Buster's that is about to break ground in that area as well.  Now, we are going to have to wait awhile for these fabulous stores to open, but we've waited this long, what is another year.  Nordstrom Rack and DSW should be open by Fall of 2015.  Start saving up money now ladies, we have a shopping date next year!!!

Fresh Look on a Classic Product

I got the pleasure of talking to Connie Britton yesterday.  Best known for her work on Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story, and Nashville, Connie also has some of the most amazing skin I have seen on an actress.  You all know by now, I love anything that has to do with improving your skin.  So, I couldn't help myself, I asked her about her cleansing regime, and boy did she blow me away with her answer.

Connie swears by Pond's Products!!  Now I have used the Pond's Cleansing Towelettes to take my make-up off at night.  But Pond's Cold Creme Cleanser, Really??  Ponds brings to mind my Great Aunt who used to lather it on at night and then sleep in it!!  I could never understand how she could go to sleep at night and not wake up with it all over her pillow.  I tried to do it one night but my mom put the kabash on that with quickness...LOL.

So yesterday, on my way home, I decided to stop by CVS and take a look at the Pond's Products for myself.  I was surprised to find how many items the line has.  From make-up remover, to BB cream, to cleanser.  Now, normally I am a bubble lover when it comes to a cleanser but I decided to give the Cream Cleanser a try.  At first, I took all my make-up off with the Cleansing Towelettes, and it did a great job as ususal.  Then I used the Cleanser.  It was hard to get used to not having something foam up on my face.  I think in my head the foam makes me feel like I am getting a deeper clean.  But after washing the cream off my face, I have to admit, my skin felt wonderful.  Very soft and very clean.  It is actually 50% moistrizer and even worked on removing my waterproof mascara, which we all know can be difficult.  I really like this product and I will use it again.  I think my next purchase will be the Pond's BB Cream.  I would call Pond's Cream Cleanser a FIND!!!
